Xiangxi’s traditional Chinese medicine goes global

At an investment promotion conference held on June 1, Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture Minzu Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and Hunan Fulande Consulting Management Company signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement to promote Xiangxi’s characteristic traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to the world.

Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture is one of the core producing areas of traditional Chinese medicinal herbs in Hunan Province. It has about 400,000 mu (26,667 hectares) of herbal plantations, with more than 2,200 species of medicinal animals and plants, accounting for 22% of the country. As a region inhabited by ethnic minorities, Xiangxi Prefecture has abundant ethnic medicine resources and profound cultural heritage. The Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture Minzu Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital has three national key special departments and 12 provincial-level key special departments.

It promotes the use of six provincial-level special therapeutic techniques like Liu’s pediatric massage, and Miao’s bone-setting technique, as well as 77 traditional Chinese and ethnic medicine diagnosis and treatment technologies such as fumigation and cupping.

54 national standards for ethnic medicine have been released, and 22 ethnic medicine monographs have been complied and published.

The both sides will give full play to their respective advantages, use Tujia and Miao unique treatment skills in Hunan (Cambodia) TCM Center, carry out relevant technical training, and international telemedicine diagnosis and treatment cooperation, actively apply and implement international cooperation projects, train TCM talents overseas, and help promote Xiangxi’s TCM and culture to Cambodia, Southeast Asia and even the world.
